Eurostat — Statistics Explained

Posted by Megan on February 16, 2010

The ResourceShelf blog has an interesting post on EuroStat’s helpful “Statistics Explained” website. EuroStat is the official statistical agency of the EU, bringing together data from member countries to enable comparative analysis as well as examination of the Union as a whole.

The “Statistics Explained” site is meant to aid users in navigating the site and understanding statistics general. As the ResourceShelf post notes, the site’s summary says it all:

Statistics Explained is an official Eurostat website presenting all possible statistical topics in an easily understandable way. Together, the articles make up everyone’s encyclopedia of European statistics, completed by a statistical glossary clarifying all terms used and by numerous links to further information and the very latest data and metadata, a portal for occasional and regular users alike.

Statistics Explained offers browseable categories of statistics, although the EuroStat site itself offers country reports and more sophisticated searching capabilities.
