Trial: Sage Reference Online

Posted by Megan on February 4, 2010

The library has a trial, until March 1, 2010, of SAGE Reference Online: eReference Encyclopedias and Handbook Collection.

This is a large collection of reference works in a variety of disciplines. 24 specialized encyclopedias and handbooks fall under the category of politics and international relations.

To borrow my words from another post: encyclopedias like these are excellent resources for students to get a quick and authoritative summary of a particular topic. The articles explain the key concepts related to a topic, provide an overview of how the topic has been studied in the past, and most importantly, list key readings and important thinkers for the subject. Indeed, they are worthy tools to promote in the Wikipedia world.

A sample article is below.
